In 2019, over 80 possessions of Boris Becker were sold by English auction house Wyles Hardy & Co. to pay creditors under his bankruptcy.

Now several mementos that were passed in during that auction will be available online through Ewbank’s Auctions.

There are four lots up for grabs for a total of six items. The provenance of all is easily established through the original Wyles Hardy & Co. invoices and lot tags from their Boris Becker auction.

Perhaps the most stylish piece is the trophy presented to young Boris when he became German Junior Tennis Champion. The front is inscribed with the words “Deutsche Jugendmeister 1982 Juniuren II”. The trophy includes a lid topped with a metal disc featuring a tennis player. The estimated price is £1,500 GBP – £2,500.

The racquet PUMA designed for Becker – Super Four & Five Eighth Mid Sized – comes with an autographed cover. Formerly exhibited at the Tennis Hall of Fame in Newport, the racquet is believed to have been used by Becker to defeat his rival Stefan Edberg, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5, 6-2, at the 1988 WCT Finals in Texas. It comes with the additional providence verifier of an Info card in German. The estimated price range is £7,000 GBP – £10,000.

The multi-item lot is comprised of a hardback copy of the 1997 biography Advantage Becker, written by Robert Lubenoff. In this German edition, Becker has signed the foreword page. Accompanying the book are two signed Boris Becker photo cards. The estimated range for clinching this lot is £1,000 GBP – £2,000.

Becker’s Lotto shell track suit is also a former exhibit from the Tennis Hall Of Fame. In size XXL, the suit bears the logos of Lotto and another of Becker’s sponsors at the time, Mercedes. The estimated range for a successful bid is £500 GBP – £800.
